Introduction:
Yusuke Kurosawa made a polyester T-shirt using the pattern of Merino Basic Tee Short Sleeve. The size is the same as the Merino Basic Tee Short Sleeve.
Yusuke Kurosawa encourage people wearing merino wool T-shirts for long time traverse and everyday life. However, synthetic fiber materials such as polyester also have merits. Since the material itself is inexpensive, the product price can be kept low and daily care is possible without being as careful as merino wool. Durability and quick-drying will also be better with polyester.
Of course, there are some disadvantages, and as you use polyester T-shirts, the smell becomes more noticeable. Compared to natural fibers such as cotton and wool, chemical fibers are harder to remove sebum stains, and polyester is especially easy to adsorb. In addition, chemical fibers are prone to the growth of odor-causing bacteria. Therefore, merino wool is definitely recommended for long time hiking where you want to reduce your luggage as much as possible, but in situations where you can change clothes immediately, such as a day hike, a quick-drying, highly durable polyester T-shirt will be an option.
* If you smell it, please try the following steps.
1. Wash odorous part with powdered oxygen bleach.
2. Fill a washbasin with hot water of about 40 to 50 °C, mix the specified amount of powdered oxygen bleach, and leave the laundry for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
3. After soaking, rinse and spin using a washing machine.
4. After spin, do not leave it and dry it immediately. Leaving after spin can also cause odor.
Design:
Yusuke Kurosawa imagined a sports T-shirt that might have been displayed in a bookstore (student co-op) on an American university campus in the 1980s. He chose colors that matched that atmosphere as much as possible. He thought the slightly flashy colors seen in American sportswear from the 1980s could give you a sense of the energy from that era.
The previous poly tee RIDGE produced and sold was the "Poly Basic Tee Short Sleeve," which used the same pattern as the "Merino Basic Tee Short Sleeve."
RIDGE's Merino Tee and Poly Tee have different situations and uses, so Yusuke Kurosawa took that into consideration and redesigned the pattern for the Poly Tee. The "Merino Basic Tee Short Sleeve" has a width and length that allows it to be worn alone or, in some cases, as a base layer. In contrast, the new "Poly Tee Short Sleeve" has been redesigned with the main focus on being worn alone, with the width, length, sleeve width, and sleeve length redesigned. Yusuke Kurosawa aimed for a looser impression than the "Merino Basic Tee Short Sleeve," and designed it to be comfortable when worn alone.
The neck of "Poly Tee Short Sleeve" is made with a milling cut. It has what is known as a "ribbed collar." In previous polyester T-shirts, RIDGE used an "TAKO binder" from the back neckline to the shoulders to prevent the neck from stretching, but this time RIDGE have done away with that. "Stretch-resistant" can also be described as something that is less likely to stretch or expand. Yusuke Kurosawa personally found it to be a bit restrictive when wearing it, so he did away with that feature this time. He thought it has turned out to be lighter and flatter. Another feature is that the shoulder seams, sleeve seams, and side seams are all flat seamed. To prevent strain on the shoulder seams when carrying the backpack, the shoulder seams have been shifted towards the back of the body.
