Introduction
A new shirt "Hooded Long Sleeve Shirt" has been born.
This hooded shirt is a new item derived from the "Basic Long Sleeve Shirt".
"Shirt + Hood"
Don't you feel better just by having a hood?
This hood is more than just a piece of design. Of course, it is also practical.
A strong wind blows, a light rain falls, and the sun shines brightly. In such cases, you can quickly put on the hood and feel more secure. This alone should make you glad you have one. The brand founder Yusuke Kurosawa thought it will be useful in all situations, from hiking to everyday use.
He also paid particular attention to the design of the hood. It's not too technical, just the right amount of simplicity. He thought about making the hood a three-dimensional design so that it would fit more easily on the head...or adding a rubber cord and cord stopper to the hood opening...but he decided on a hood with a simple design.
Please take this hooded long sleeve shirt with you both in your daily life and on hiking trips.
Material
This product uses COOL DOTS®, which has 4-way stretch (stretch both vertically and horizontally). COOL DOTS® is a high-performance material developed by Komatsu Matere Co., Ltd. that is made of 100% polyester with countless microscopic air holes and has excellent stretch and breathability.
*This is a lighter and more advanced material with smaller micropores than the COOL DOTS® used in the Poly Basic Long Sleeve Shirt, which was sold until 2022.
Excellent breathability has been achieved through a special weaving method that creates numerous micropores. It maintains excellent breathability from the inside of the shirt while reducing the sense of transparency when worn.
"Stretchy/Lightweight"
It uses two types of special stretch yarns with different shrinkage rates to achieve high stretchability in all 360° directions. Not only is it lightweight at 104g/㎡, but it also has high wrinkle resistance. Even if it is crumpled and stuffed into a backpack pocket, it quickly recovers its shape.
"Quick drying and UV protection"
The quick-drying feature that dries quickly even if it gets wet is an important feature when hiking, and of course this fabric also has this feature. In addition, it also has UV protection.
"Durability"
Friction test in dry and wet conditions.
"Environmental Consideration"
Lycra T400® fiber, a plant-derived thread, is used in part of the stretch system.
Design
Yusuke Kurosawa tried to create a basic design that can be worn everyday without any discomfort. It has a relaxing silhouette that is moderately away from the body line. It's a shirt with a simple design, but with fine details.
“Round edge”
It is easily affected by wear, so Yusuke Kurosawa designed it to eliminate sharp edge as much as possible.
“Chest pocket body and flap edge”
These parts are made into as small a round shape as possible. These places usually have sharp edges. Therefore, it is susceptible to wear and tear, and fraying is often noticeable. It is made into a small round to prevent wear even a little. Yusuke san is very careful when sewing small rounds. The pitch of the seams is reduced, which requires more hand movements, and it is very difficult to get a nice finish.
“Hood”
The best feature of this product is the hood.
・Warmth retention: When hiking, you may encounter places with low temperatures or strong winds. Wearing a hood increases heat retention around the head and neck, preventing your body temperature from dropping.
・Windproof/Rainproof: You may encounter sudden rain or wind while hiking. The hood protects you from rain and wind by covering your head and neck. This material is water-repellent, so it can withstand some rain.
・UV protection: When hiking in the high mountains, UV rays are often strong. Wearing the hood protects the skin around the head and neck from direct UV rays. The material has a UV cut function, so it plays a role in preventing UV rays.
・Breathability: The material has excellent breathability, so it reduces stuffiness on your head when you put the hood on, supporting a comfortable hike.
Yusuke Kurosawa chose a very simple shape for the hood. This shirt is not a shell. He wanted it to be just a "shirt". There may not be a situation where you should wear a hood rather than a shell. That's why he kept the design and structure as simple as possible.
He aimed for a well-balanced size that is neither too small nor too large so that it fits well when not covered by the hood.
The hood's string is also made from a common fabric rather than rubber cord or rope.
If you want to narrow the hood opening, just pull it out (in some cases, tie a string). Yusuke Kurosawa kept it in a hood that was easy to handle.
If you squeeze the hood string without the hood on, it will change to the shape. It also helps prevent the hood from flapping due to the wind and keeps your neck slightly warm.
“Sleeves with momentum in the armpits”
The armholes are large enough to secure enough momentum at the side when raising the arms.
“Folding stitch”
All seams are sewn with felled seams. The felled seam is a method of sewing by folding the fabric so that the edge seam allowance is not visible. It takes a lot of time and effort to sew, but it is durable. On the other hand, if the seam allowance is processed with a lock sewing machine, nails may get caught in the thread, which may lead to unraveling.
“Snap button”
All buttons use resin snap buttons (YKK PLANCER®). You don't have to worry about losing the button due to thread breakage like with normal sewing buttons.
“Hanger loop”
A hanger loop is provided at the base of the back collar band. The hanger loop is a traditional shirt detail.
“Countermeasure against static electricity”
A special discharge tape is sewn into the garment to suppress the static electricity that tends to occur with clothing made of thin chemical fibers (nylon, polyester, etc.). (*From “Poly Basic Long Sleeve Shirt” which will be on sale from 2023)
Discharge tape was developed as a measure to reduce electrostatic voltage that has a negative effect on the human body. Discharge tape does not prevent static electricity, but by lowering the static voltage through discharge, it prevents the discomfort caused by static electricity. By installing it, it will not interfere with equipment such as mobile phones and computers. What's more, it has the effect of keeping pollen and dust out of the vicinity during discharge.
