The meaning of collaboration between brands
MOUNTAIN MARTIAL ARTS (https://mountain-ma.com/), whose concept is "seamlessly connecting activities and town use," and SAYAMA works, whose philosophy is "mountain tools that help people," have teamed up to create a clothing that combines both characteristics. MOUNTAIN MARTIAL ARTS and SAYAMA works place emphasis on achieving both design and functionality to the product, and the high performance could support the top climbers, runners, and trail runners. In particular, they request field tests from participants and finishers of the Trans Japan Alps Race (TJAR https://www.tjar.jp/), which is said to be the toughest race in Japan, and provide feedback on the test results to the product. They believe that those top runners who are good enough to participate in the TJAR end up in extremely harsh environments and conditions, and that the demands of these athletes for products are synonymous with the needs of general users. In developing this clothing, they thought it was worthwhile to take on the challenge of taking advantage of its characteristics.
Concept
SAYAMA works and MOUNTAIN MARTIAL ARTS wanted to develop a short-sleeve T-shirt that was designed to be used during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, and was highly functional and designed. When they selecting fabrics, SAYAMA works use eco-friendly materials that are UV-protective, deodorizing, moisture-wicking, quick-drying, stretchy, and environmentally friendly. It suppresses the shine and the textured texture helps prevent it from peeling off the skin. In addition, it is supple and soft to the touch, making it suitable for everything from street wear to long-time activities. Regarding the design, they commissioned illustrations from Jerry Ukai, an illustrator who is popular for his outdoor creative activities.
Theme
SAYAMA works agrees with MMA's theme, "We are Mountaineers," and uses an illustration of trail runners and hikers as friends playing in the mountains. It has a classic and unique design typical of Jerry Ukai.
Specifications
The original body made in Japan is a regular type that is neither too tight nor too loose, making it suitable for activities and town use. It has a slit at the hem and a long back for classic details.
